General & Visitor Information


The Kirkland and District Hospital recognizes that family and friends contribute to a positive patient experience and healing outcomes.  We must all do our part to prevent the spread of infection.  Please wash your hands when entering into the facility and refrain from visiting if you are feeling unwell.

The Hospital Cafeteria is located on the lower level of the hospital. 

Monday - Friday (excluding Holidays)
9:00 am - 1:00 pm

We offer daily lunch specials, soups, salad plates and various light refreshments.

For your convenience, vending machines are also available in the alcove off the main lobby on the 2nd floor

Gift Shop

The Kirkland and District Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop is in the Lobby of the Hospital.  The Gift Shop carries various items for purchase from snacks, toiletries to giftware.

Gift Shop Hours:

Monday to Friday:   10:00 am to 4:00 pm
                                  6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Weekends:               1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
*please note these hours may vary due to Volunteer availability.

Cold and Flu Season

To protect you from the flu, get the flu shot and always practice good hand hygiene.  Learn more about the flu and how to protect yourself and loved ones.

Cell Phones & Mobile Devices:

Patients and visitors may use mobile devices when not receiving care and only if not disruptive to other patients/visitors/staff. 

Parking Information:
Parking tokens are $3.00 each and are available at:

·       Dispensing machine adjacent to the hospital lobby. 

·       Volunteer desk

·       Central Registry

·       Business Office

Please see the Business Office for information on purchasing multiple tokens.

The Visitor Parking Lot is located across from the hospital entrance.

Limited metered parking spots are available for use by Emergency Department Patients only. 

The Kirkland and District Hospital enforces Parking Bylaw #14-075 on the property 24 hours a day.  Please ensure you are parked in the designated parking areas and adhere to all posted parking signs.

Visiting Hours

Kirkland and District Hospital’s visiting hours are from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm daily. In accordance with Kirkland and District Hospital Visitation Regulation.

KDH recommends no more than two visitors per patient at any time, provided visitors do not become intrusive to the privacy of others.

·       Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.

·       Please check with the nursing staff to discuss visiting options for special care areas (e.g. ICU, Palliative Care).

·       The Main Entrance to the hospital will be locked between 8:00 pm and 7:00 am daily.

Visitor restricts will be implemented in specific circumstances such as outbreak or emergency situations.

Hospital staff may restrict a visitor’s access to the hospital or to a particular patient where such a restriction is in the best interest of patients and/or staff.

Visitors must wash their hands on entering the hospital, on entering the patient room, after any contact with the patient or items in their room, on leaving the patient room and on leaving the hospital.

Kirkland and District Hospital is a Scent Safe Facility

Please do not wear or bring in any of the following SCENTED items:

  • Perfume       ·  Cologne              ·  Cosmetics
  • Aftershave    ·  Shampoo            ·  Deodorant
  • Conditioner   ·  Fabric Softener    ·  Laundry Detergent
  • Please do not bring live flowers or plants into the facility.  Silk flowers are encouraged.
  • Latex balloons are prohibited in the hospital due to the number of latex allergies.

No Smoking

Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the hospital.

Please smoke only in the designated smoking area outside the main entrance doors in the front of the building.
