Intensive Care

The Intensive Care Unit is a 4 bed ward with a 2 bed step down unit for monitoring telemetry patients. The Intensive Care Unit provides specialized care to a diverse patient population that includes cardiac, surgical, and medical patients. The Intensive Care Unit has the capabilities for caring for patients who are mechanically ventilated, have central lines and require central venous pressure readings, have intravenous lines for drug infusion and fluids, patients that require non-invasive or invasive temporary pacemakers, arterial lines or patients that require continuous cardiac monitoring.

All ICU staff maintain ACLS certification and are specially trained to care for the critically ill patient.

There are also 5 telemetry units available, which can monitor the heart’s status no matter where the patient is located in the hospital.

Health teaching is an ongoing process in the ICU and a cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention clinic is available on discharge.

Admission to the ICU is by physician order only.
