The Kirkland and District Hospital laboratory provides services to Inpatients and emergency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as well as to clinics and outpatients.

The laboratory is a member of the Timmins Cluster of hospitals which is comprised of 10 area hospitals and is under the Medical Directorship of University Health Network (UHN). The laboratory processes an annual volume of approximately 180,000 tests.

The following services are provided:

  • Chemistry
  • Heamatology
  • Transfusion medicine including history check
  • Microbiology (performed at Timmins District Hospital (TDH) and Public Health lab)
  • Cytology (performed at UHN)
  • Pathology (performed at TDH and UHN)
  • Blood Collection
  • Urinalysis
  • Point of Care Testing Coordination and Management

Outpatient Hours 08:00am to 12:00 Monday to Friday.

Technologists are here from 08:00 to 1130 pm 7 days per week. On call after hours.
All Outpatient testing is referred to Life Labs for completion.
There is no on site testing of outpatient samples.
